Vintage Horn - Custom "Scratch" Finish

This is a custom "scratch" finish vintage Olds LA Ambassador cornet.  The serial number 142xxx indicates a manufacture date of 1954 or 1955 when the Olds company was located in Los Angeles doing excellent construction!  The new custom finish really enhances the beauty of an already-beautiful instrument.

Before the scratch finish was applied, this cornet was ultrasonically cleaned, all accessible dents and dings removed and all slides and valves were cleaned and inspected for wear.  Then came hours of applying by hand the scratch finish.  Once completed, spray wax was applied to help seal the finish.  Over time, it will begin to change colors and attain a wonderful patina.

Included with the cornet are a vintage, though not original, Ambassador case in great shape along with a vintage lyre.  There is no mouthpiece with the cornet.  The cornet plays as well as it looks - very nice!  Rather than go on about it's attribute, we've included several pictures for you to view and if you don't see one you'd like to see, please email us.
