We did some comparisons of these
trumpets shown below and we determined that:
1. The earlier the horn, the lighter its weighs – the 1948 horn
was 4 ounces lighter than the 1952 horn – different brass,
possibly thinner
2. The earlier horn played a bit brighter but both projected
well
3. The later 1952 horn was a bit more subdued and we would
described it as dark and smoky ( more Martin Committee sounding
)
4. The 1948 horn is in VG plus condition cosmetically ( possibly
refinished at some point ) while the 1952 horn looks very unique
in raw brass. It could be polished up and the raw brass would be
a consistent color but it would shine if cleaned and polished
and look really nice. |
