We did some comparisons of these trumpets shown below and we determined that:

1. The earlier the horn, the lighter its weighs – the 1948 horn was 4 ounces lighter than the 1952 horn – different brass, possibly thinner
2. The earlier horn played a bit brighter but both projected well
3. The later 1952 horn was a bit more subdued and we would described it as dark and smoky ( more Martin Committee sounding )
4. The 1948 horn is in VG plus condition cosmetically ( possibly refinished at some point ) while the 1952 horn looks very unique in raw brass. It could be polished up and the raw brass would be a consistent color but it would shine if cleaned and polished and look really nice.
